Kontakt was engaged to generate excitement for 51 grand openings across the U.S., working alongside Legacy Marketing (a leading experiential agency in Chicago) and Famous Footwear. The objective was to drive foot traffic through a mobile-first promotional experience that connected digital engagement with in-store participation.

The activation invited consumers to text-to-play, triggered by a blend of local advertising, social media posts, online ad placements, and on-the-ground street teams. Upon texting in, users received a personalized mobile play link, prompting them to engage with an instant-win game mechanic on their phone. The experience concluded in-store, where the mobile game piece was revealed for a discount or prize.

  • UX: We designed an intuitive, frictionless user journey that guided customers from initial CTA to prize redemption, optimizing for mobile behavior and ensuring clear, timely feedback throughout.

  • UI: Our interface emphasized simplicity and thumb-friendly interaction—large tap targets, responsive visuals, and branded styling made game play seamless and inviting.

  • Strategy: The campaign was built around localized engagement—each grand opening had tailored messaging and geo-fenced mobile triggers to maximize foot traffic and excitement around each individual store event.

  • Campaign Dashboard: A custom real-time dashboard allowed client and agency teams to track performance across all 51 locations, monitoring entries, engagement rates, and redemptions with granular visibility.

 

 

Once live, the campaign consistently delivered up to 1,200 plays per location (in a weekend), successfully merging digital gamification with real-world conversion. The mobile platform scaled effortlessly across markets, keeping brand consistency while allowing localized targeting.
